Tools and Strategies for Managing Health Networks
The Rural Health Initiative (RHI) is focused on identifying strategies for significantly improving health care access and reducing health inequities in three rural counties that are part of the REACH Foundation’s service area. The RHI is organized to invest in strengthening and growing community leadership capacity to implement solutions that can remove barriers to health care in rural areas.
National statistics and local data reveal a concerning portrait of health care and health outcomes in rural communities. These data sources confirm the growing inequities between rural and urban communities. A Grantmakers in Health Issue Brief published in 2009 noted the health care access barriers commonly found in rural communities and highlighted areas for potential development.
